Post pandemic renovation by park district resulted in the gym being very dark for most contact sports and ball games like basketball and table tennis. The pictures posted are very old when lighting conditions were ideal. Right now even reading documents can be a hassle once you are on the basketball courts. The renovation was primarily focused for Drama and theatre without consideration for other sports/events. Club is for beginners to intermediate level players and occasionally advanced players drop in. Winners keep the table and the losing opponent has to move on to another table by placing a paddle or letting the players know they are in line waiting for their turn. This is not a place to learn table tennis for the first timers but there are people who are ready to provide trips if you are at least a very good basement player. Not a kids friendly environment and not an ideal club for dates due to limited time window for play. They have mixture of professional tables and basement tables. $6 fee is a bit expensive for the facility and quality of tables compared to other park districts and the experience you get from participation. Tables are always taken by old young people. People make faces if the ball bounce over to some other table.

Lots of tables. Only $4.00 per session. But 'winners stick', so the better players monopolize all through! Also, you get in position by placing your paddle on the ground on any side - when your turn comes, some one else could claim precedence, it's an honor system, subject to occasional confusion.
